Asiwaju Gabriel Olusola Ajayi was born in 1952 in Araromi-Ekiti into the respected family of Chief Dominic Ajayi, the Amoyegun of Araromi, and Chief (Mrs.) Elizabeth Bolanungbe Ajayi, the Eyewi of Araromi. He began his early education at St. Mary’s Catholic School, Araromi-Ekiti, before relocating to Lagos in 1966, where he joined his elder brothers, Chief Simeon Adebayo Ajayi (of blessed memory) and Mr. Fidelis Oluwayomi Ajayi. In Lagos, he continued his foundational education at Christ Apostolic School, Agege, where he re-sat his elementary certificate. Driven by a strong passion for science and innovation, he proceeded to Amukpe Technical College in the then Bendel State, where he studied Electronics and Electrical Engineering. His belief has always been that while academic learning is important, practical experience is essential for true professional mastery. In 1974, after acquiring practical training at Olu Electronic Company, Lagos, Chief Ajayi established his own firm, GABSON Electronic Services. His continuous pursuit of knowledge later led him to Lagos State Television (LTV 8), Ikeja, where he gained advanced experience in cinematography. This exposure transformed his business into GABSON Films Production, a pioneering name in media and visual production. Over the years, Chief Ajayi has trained and mentored many young professionals, several of whom have gone on to achieve success in their respective fields. He remains deeply committed to youth empowerment, skills development, and capacity building. A philanthropist at heart, he has consistently supported initiatives that promote community growth and social development. Inspired by fellow sons of Araromi-Ekiti, he co-founded the Egbe Akorewolu Social Club, a respected socio-cultural platform in the town. In addition to his community service, Chief Ajayi is a devoted Catholic. He served as Vice Chairman of the Parish Pastoral Council at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Ifako-Ijaye, Lagos, for six years, during which he contributed significantly to the acquisition of land for parish development. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the Church and community development in both Lagos and Ekiti States, he was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Chief Majeobaje of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Araromi-Ekiti, in 1995 by Bishop Michael Patrick Olatunji Fagun, then Bishop of Ekiti Diocese. Chief Gabriel Olusola Ajayi’s life is defined by service, integrity, and commitment to community development. As Asiwaju of Araromi-Ekiti, he remains a symbol of leadership, vision, and enduring dedication to the progress of his people at home and in the diaspora.
