Kakaaki Oba Festival 2026 Begins Preparations for Historic Maiden Edition in Araromi-Ekiti

The organizing committee of the Kakaaki Oba Festival 2026 has officially announced the commencement of preparations for what is expected to become one of the most significant emerging cultural festivals in Ekiti State and beyond.
The festival, scheduled to hold on 19th August 2026 in Araromi-Ekiti, Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti State, is designed as a cultural and developmental initiative focused on preserving tradition, promoting unity, and driving meaningful community transformation.
According to the committee, the maiden edition of the Kakaaki Oba Festival will bring together traditional rulers, dignitaries, community stakeholders, youths, and sons and daughters of Araromi-Ekiti from across Nigeria and the diaspora.
A major highlight of the event will be the official launch of the ₦500,000,000 (Five Hundred Million Naira) Araromi Development Fund, an ambitious community-driven initiative established to support the construction of two major legacy projects:

An Ultra-Modern Community Hall
The projects are expected to provide lasting infrastructure for cultural gatherings, community events, youth engagement programs, and developmental activities within Araromi-Ekiti.
Speaking on the significance of the festival, the organizers described Kakaaki Oba as more than just a cultural celebration, noting that it represents a movement towards strengthening identity, promoting unity, and encouraging collective responsibility for community development.
The week-long activities lined up for the festival are expected to include traditional rites, cultural performances, royal processions, Sugudu Night, community engagement activities, youth participation programs, and the Grand Royal Homage ceremony.
